Baker Spotlight: Samantha Reynolds

We welcome Katie’s mom as a guest blogger today to share her story.

Katie was born with Cystic Fibrosis, a genetic life shortening disease that affects mainly her lungs and digestive system. In order to stay healthy, she takes several medications several times a day, and has to do breathing treatments 2-3 times per day.

Recently, Katie’s dad’s company closed and he lost his job. Our family has been going thru some financial hardships, relying on my part time income. Katie’s 9th birthday was coming up, and I knew we couldn’t afford to
have a big party with all her friends. So, I decided on a family party with a really nice cake. The Icing Smiles program helped me to be able to give Katie that cake for her celebration.

Katie requested a Minecraft cake, because she crazy about that! I really appreciate the time and effort our baker, Samantha, put into Katie’s cake. Additionally, we don’t live too close to each other, but she drove (in the pouring down rain) to meet us at a local Sheetz to deliver the cake.

Katie’s cake was provided by Sugar Angel Samantha Reynolds in Millmont, Pennsylvania. Katie’s mom said, “Samantha really captured the Minecraft theme and did a great job with the decorations. Katie loved the cake. Thank you for helping us make Katie’s 9th birthday celebration so special! We hope to have many, many more!”
