Celebrating Jaidyn’s Graduation with Sugar Angel Jamie

Celebrating Jaidyn’s Graduation with Sugar Angel Jamie

Some Sugar Angels have a personal tie to Icing Smiles, and others, like Jamie Bybee of Jamie Cakes, found out about our organization through social media. No matter how our volunteers find us, we love to hear from them about the cakes they provide.

Jaidyn was graduating high school and
requested a cake from Icing Smiles. After some discussion with her mom, Sugar Angel Jamie Bybee wanted to make it extra special.

While graduating high school is a milestone for many children, it was an even bigger milestone for Jaidyn. For Jaidyn, senior year was the first time she was back in school with her peers in over five years. After her digestive system shut down at the beginning of 7th grade, she spent the next six years traveling to Boston from Missouri for medical treatment. There were times where Jaidyn was completely reliant on a feeding tube, so to be able to celebrate graduation with a sense of normalcy and eat cake was truly special.

Becoming a Sugar Angel

Jamie originally started baking to provide birthday cakes for her own kids and eventually for friends and family. Then, Jamie saw a local post on Facebook and immediately started Googling what being a ‘Sugar Angel’ meant. After reading more about Icing Smiles, she signed up to become one!

The Request

This was Sugar Angel Jamie’s first call-to-action for Icing Smiles, and she could not have been more excited. Jaidyn’s mom shared that her school colors were green and black and that Jaidyn was the “Jubilee Days Queen.” Sugar Angel Jamie told us that she wanted to incorporate how strong and beautiful Jaidyn is into this graduation cake. Not only did she deliver a beautiful two-tier marble cake, but she also provided a dozen chocolate and vanilla cupcakes that matched Jaidyn’s graduation colors.

Words from Jamie

Sugar Angel Jamie shared that she had fun swirling together the marble cake for Jaidyn, using buttercream and a black drip to decorate this beautiful cake for Jaidyn. She also said:

“I still think back on the day that I received an email for a call to action to bake a difference in someone’s life; I was filled with so many emotions. I am so, so happy that I signed up to be a Sugar Angel!”

Jamie has shared the opportunity to become a Sugar Angel on her business’s Facebook page and told us, “I must admit, the highlight of my baking so far has been getting my first call to action and baking a difference!”
