Serenity’s Mermaid Munchies

In these difficult times, it can be fun to look back on happy memories. For Icing Smiles, one of those happy memories is Serenity’s fourth birthday! Last October, Serenity had a splashy mermaid themed party complete with dozens of sparkly mermaid cupcakes. The treats fit her personality perfectly; she loves anything related to water, but especially mermaids!

Serenity has pyruvate dehydrogenase complex deficiency, a genetic disorder that causes lactic acid to build up within the body. This can lead to a variety of neurological symptoms, such as difficulty speaking or walking. However, this does not stop Serentiy from expressing herself. From her sparkling smile to her bubbly giggles, her family can always tell what’s on her mind.

Her birthday party was no exception! She lit up as soon as she saw the table full of mermaid-colored sweets made just for her. And the best part about cupcakes? The fun doesn’t end when the party does! Serenity and her family saved a few to keep the good times rolling a little longer.

Now, almost a year later, we’re so happy to be able to reflect on these magical moments Icing Smiles has had the privilege of being a part of. Here’s to many more in the years ahead!
