Keaton: A Superhero Zelda Cake for a Super Sibling!

Being faced with a life-changing diagnosis can make you feel alone, especially when there are only a handful of people in the world that share your diagnosis. This is how Keaton’s family felt upon learning his little sister Mabry has DYRK1A Syndrome, something that affects only about 100 people worldwide. 

DYRK1A Syndrome can include issues with speech, walking, and even seizures. Because there are so few cases, there is a very limited amount of literature to review to help with management. In spite of all of that, this family has banded together to become even stronger than before!

To help Mabry live her best life, each member of the family pitches in where they can. The whole family devotes a significant amount of their time to Mabry’s doctor visits and day to day assistance. Through it all, Keaton and his siblings have never once complained about having to help their sister. The whole family works together to ensure that Mabry is happy and healthy. 

Icing Smiles was honored to help Keaton and his family celebrate his 14th birthday with the assistance of Sugar Angel Vickie Davis! The whole family enjoyed sharing on his special day. His usual sheet cake was upgraded to a two-tiered masterpiece featuring Zelda, a legendary hero just like super sibling Keaton!
