Harrison Turns 4!
Harrison and his family are celebrating the victories, and we at Icing Smiles would like to share it with you!
One of the rare diseases Harrison suffers from is called Mast Cell Activation Disorder. It causes the body to react to a lot of things as if they are allergies even if they aren’t. These reactions can range from things like foods and environmental allergens but can also triggered by stress, physical exertion, barometric changes, odors, medicine, etc. Harrison has gone into anaphylaxis too many times to count. Anaphylaxis is life-threatening, severe shock that is the dreaded result of an over-exaggerated allergic response. Not only does Harrison experience frequent anaphylaxis as a result of Mast Cell Activation Disorder, he also suffers frequent gastrointestinal, neurological and skin problems.
Unfortunately, Harrison endured several years of being unable to tolerate any foods without some form of discomfort. So, this is another reason why celebrating his 4th birthday this year was extra special. Baker Corinna accepted the challenge to make Harrison a “real cake” and went above and beyond to create a gluten free & dairy free cake with natural food dyes. This reduced the risk of a dangerous reaction to his special cake, and what a day he and his family had! Thank you, Sugar Angel Corinna, for your very special and very tasty contribution to the celebration. For more of Corinna’s delicious creations, check out her bakery here.
