Astounding Abigail
Icing Smiles volunteers create thousands of cakes for critically ill kids in hopes of making their days a little brighter. But what most people often do not think about are the fearless siblings of these critically ill kids. The siblings who have to remain strong, sometimes have to help out, and often times get less attention. This is why Icing Smiles volunteers not only create cakes for ill children, but also for their siblings who sometimes suffer in the background.
Abigail is one of those siblings who is beyond deserving of something special on her birthday. Her mom, Crystal, contacted Icing Smiles to have a special cake created just for her. Sugar Angel Susan created a two-tiered, Moana themed waterfall cake that would make anyone feel like they are in paradise. Susan was kind and thoughtful in making the cake extra special for Abigail’s 15th birthday celebration on December 14, 2019.
Abigail has supported her little brother JJ for the past three years as he endured many tests and surgeries associated with his condition. She has seen many things that kids her age have never seen or will never have to. She has had to sacrifice activities and “normal” teenage life to be there for her brother and to help out her mother. She has done so gracefully and without ever complaining.
When Abigail received her cake, she was overjoyed to have something that was made especially for her. She was delighted for it to be so personalized and focused on what she is like and is interested in. Abigail truly enjoyed her cake. Susan went above and beyond all expectations!
