A Best-Cake-Ever Day to Remember!

A Best-Cake-Ever Day to Remember!

By their own accounts this year’s Best Cake Ever Contest winner, Christine Nguyen, of The Sweet Boutique Bakery, and her Satin Ice Artist of Excellence, Elisa Strauss of Confetti Cakes, enjoyed an incredible day in early December convening in New York City to share their passion for cake making.

“This was truly an experience of a lifetime for me. I’m a self-taught cake designer and former school teacher with no business experience. I’ve watched lots of cake shows and Elisa was among the people that I admired in the cake industry,” says Christine. “When we met it felt like we were old friends meeting to share our joys and struggles in the cake world. It was a camaraderie from one fellow cake designer to another that I lacked back home that I now realize how important it is to have. Elisa shared her knowledge, passion and cake techniques that will now make my life so much easier! We had such a great time together talking, laughing and working on that gum paste shoe. I really didn’t want the day to end!”

Elisa also says she had a fabulous day, and expressed appreciation that Icing Smiles created the event that brought them together. “It was evident with just talking to Christine what a special person she is in both her professional and personal life,” says Elisa. “It takes such hard work and determination to succeed in the baking business and she is so talented, too! On top of all this, she is clearly such a giving person through her work with Icing Smiles and endless other organizations. I honestly do not know how she and her husband find time to do all that they do.”

Christine also acknowledged the contribution of

“Icing Smiles makes it possible for me to share what I love to do with kids that need it the most! I look forward to making many more cakes for the children of Icing Smiles,” says Christine.

We’re sure they are looking forward to it, as well, Christine!
