Administrative Spotlight – DeAndrea Williams

Hidden Talent: Hmm, if I see how something is done I can usually replicate it… in cake. LOL!
Favorite Snack: Peanut M&M’s
Favorite Movie: Memoirs of a Geisha
Favorite Book: Not much of a reader to tell you the truth. I do love to write though. Go figure!
Favorite Quote: “Dolce Far Niente” (meaning “The sweetness of doing nothing” in Italian)
Favorite Memory with Icing Smiles: Before I officially retired from cake decorating I had the distinct privilege of working with the same family multiple times. It’s always nice seeing how much the girls and their brother have grown and progressed year after year. Katelynn has been battling Anoxic Brain Injury/Encephalopathy and Ashley and brother Christian are her super siblings. Mom (Peggy) has always been very easy to work with and trusting of my designs. 
After reading many of our blogs online and seeing the positive impact our organization had on families affected by critical illnesses, she found her new passion in writing. She took on a more administrative role at Icing Smiles serving as the Communications Coordinator. In this position, she is responsible for coordinating all electronic communications on behalf of the organization and managing the Icing Smiles Blog. In addition, she also works for the State of Virginia full time, is a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, and the Undergraduate Advisor to the National Pan Hellenic Council at VCU.
She typically does not have a lot of free time so she definitely values the weekends when she doesn’t have anything scheduled. She loves to attend festivals with her family and spend Sundays with her friends cooking out. “Richmond is very rich in culture and diversity. We have a festival for nearly everything year-round… from French, Spanish, Chinese, and Greek to Chicken Wing, Folk, and Wine! They literally have something for everyone here, ” she said.
DeAndrea has been married to her husband Jonathan for 11 years. They have a beautiful daughter named Prestyn RyLee who is 10 months old and a 5 year old Godson, Elijah. She has a younger/taller brother Brian that is also very artistic and she’s sure they get that from their mother Liz. Her dad Steve is her ‘Man Crush’ everyday. LOL! A lot of her work ethic and commitment to service and the community can be attributed to his influence.
DeAndrea loves using her platform as a blogger to bring awareness to our mission and give life and hope to the families that we serve. She is definitely Baking A Difference as an amazing, dedicated admin at Icing Smiles.
