Events like our Buttercream Balls sponsored by Nielsen-Massey Fine Vanillas and Flavors help bring our large family together to raise funds and awareness so we can continue to serve more children. Each year Icing Smiles delivers cakes to over 3,000 amazing kids. Even though our cakes are donated, it costs on average $35 per cake to cover costs include licensing and registration fees, database, tax documentation, promotional material, website hosting, and funding for our Baker Reimbursement Program. Funds raised at events like our Buttercream Balls give us the opportunity to deliver not only cakes but unlimited smiles!

On November 12th, Icing Smiles hosted its second annual Chicago Buttercream Ball in downtown Chicago at The James Hotel. This event gave Icing Smiles Sugar Angels, Administrative Team, sponsors, families, and supporters a chance to meet and celebrate with each other.

Icing Smiles is a volunteer-based organization of 45+ Administrative Team members spread across the country, so getting together in person is always a sweet treat. The Chicago Buttercream Ball had Administrative Team members and Sugar Angels from Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Maryland all in attendance. An evening of entertainment, great food and delicious sweets donated by many of our talented Sugar Angels were enjoyed by all.

Featured Sugar Artist and Icing Smiles Sugar Angel, Evelyn Meyemberg of Cakes by Evey, created an amazing piano cake to go along with our dueling pianos theme and entertainment. Evelyn has served 3 dream cakes to families in the Chicago area. Two other special Sugar Angels provided our wonderful desserts, Sweet Diversions Chicago, who has created 8 dream and fun cakes and Whisked by Cake who has created 6 cakes, all in the Chicago area. Many other Sugar Angels and supporters helped make this amazing event possible.

As 2016 comes to an end, we would like to take the time to thank our numerous volunteers for their commitment and dedication to our mission here at Icing Smiles and to the children we serve. To our families, thank you for allowing us into your lives and being a big part of the Icing Smiles family. We’ve accomplished so much in 2016 and our work is not over! We look forward to a bigger and better 2017!
