Meet “Sugar Angel” Waleska Falls in Rockaway, New Jersey.

“There is no better feeling than the feeling of giving,” Waleska said when asked what prompted her to become an Icing Smiles Sugar Angel. Ever since she received her first Easy Bake Oven back in 1984, she has always wished to bring smiles to people through cake. Life sent her in a different direction where she ultimately became an Engineer, but, the passion of helping others stayed with her. “For some time now I was hoping to find an organization like yours (my husband can attest to that), and just like that I heard about you guys via an AC Moore email. It was just sent from heaven. Now I feel complete by giving a smile back… that’s what it’s all about,” Waleska said.

Janet Woudenberg (New Jersey State Representative) contacted Waleska to design a dream cake for 10 year old Melany. The design process was pretty simple. The family forwarded her a picture of the cake they wanted and she replicated it. The cake was 3 tiers. She baked a total of six chocolate cakes which featured dulce de leche filling and dulce de leche buttercream covered with fondant. Waleska said, “It was very humbling for my family and I to be able to give back, especially during the holidays. Sunday at church my 3 year old daughter raised her hand during children’s liturgy and asks for prayers for [Melany]. In her sweet, naive, pure heart she was praying for her. That is what it is all about; teaching our children to be compassionate and to always give back.”

When asked what she has enjoyed the most about volunteering Waleska said, “I grew up extremely poor. My mother was a single mother, but, somehow she always managed to donate food for any special fundraising at church. Through hard work, I went to college.  God always was by my side helping me succeed.  No matter how many times I stumbled the love of God was around me…  Now I have the opportunity to give back.”

Waleska thanks Icing Smiles for giving her the opportunity to pay it forward. She said it was very humbling for her family to be able to give back especially during the holidays. Thank you Waleska for bringing a BIG smile to Melany’s face! We are so excited to have you as a Sugar Angel and look forward to seeing more “smiles” in the future!
